Xi’an Foshan Temple Roof Aluminum Tile Project

Foshan Temple is located in Tangyu Town, Lantian County, Xi’an. As the temple’s roof tiles had grown aged and required repair, aluminum‑magnesium‑manganese alloy split‑type tiles from Xi’an Penghang were selected. This alloy boasts excellent resistance to corrosion, freeze‑thaw cycles, and fading, and once installed can maintain stable performance for over 50 years, thereby minimizing the disruption to this ancient temple caused by frequent short‑term repairs. These split‑type aluminum tiles also perfectly replicate the three‑dimensional texture and time‑worn hues of traditional Chinese cylindrical tiles. After restoration, the roof appears neat and refined while fully preserving the solemn, dignified character of Foshan Temple, harmonizing beautifully with the natural surroundings of the Tangyu Mountains and forests. Upon completion, many visitors coming to pay their respects and explore the site have praised the work, noting that the new roof not only resolves longstanding issues of leaks and damage but also blends seamlessly with the historic setting, leaving no trace of artificial intervention. This approach has opened up a practical and reliable pathway for the restoration and adaptive reuse of small and medium‑sized historic structures in county‑level areas.
